Here we have an excellent example of a 1968 Gibson J-50 vintage acoustic guitar!
The Gibson J-50 is the same guitar as the Gibson J-45, but with a natural finish. The sunburst finish of the J-45 allowed the guitar makers to use lower quality cuts of wood because the finish covered up the spots of lesser quality. This is not the case with the Gibson J-50. Gibson used only the best cuts of wood for its guitars with natural finishes. They were forced to, there was no way to hide bad cuts of wood behind a natural finish.
This particular example is extremely clean! It is in excellent, crack-free condition! There are no major dings or dents. It is also 100% original! It is a beautiful guitar!
This guitar is set up to play. The action and neck angle are great. My luthier just went through the guitar and everything is in order!
The top is made from sitka spruce, while the back and sides are the traditional mahogany. The fretboard and bridge are rosewood.
Vintage guitars are truly a wonder to behold! The history behind the guitars, and the feel of them in your hands truly create an experience like no other.
Included is the original hardshell case, in excellent condition.
